I have reached out to an art teacher to team-teach a new digital animation course in the upper school. Fantastic! Love the opportunity to learn from his expertise and share my digital skills and knowledge.
He is primarily taking on the traditional animation (first semester) half of the year. Teaching traditional drawing/sketching skills and techniques such as line finding, figure drawing ON PAPER WITH PENCIL and/or charcoal. These skills are, of course, very important to quality animation skills and directly transferable to digital animation. The students eventually use these skills to create compelling animations using Adobe Animate as the primary tool. The second semester will be devoted to 3D modeling and animation. The skills developed during the first semester, including character development, will seamlessly transfer to the second. Fun and I can't wait to see what the students produce!
Short ball animation using Adobe Animate CC (formerly known as Flash)
Adobe Animate's animation features are fun to use. My animation students use it. Here is an example of an unfinished short animation of a ball.
The applications allows for basic audio editing within the timeline.
