Aah, one of the many rewards of being a teacher, mentor!

I recently received a very nice email and request from a former student of mine. She was in my architectural design course and to this day, the most detail-oriented and focused student I've had over the years. She is applying to an architecture school and has asked me to write a letter of recommendation for her. You betcha'!

Here's what she said:

Mr. Perrine,

My name is ### and I was one of your students in your Architecture class at ### School three years ago. I am now a student at the University of ### and I am applying to get into the Architecture school here. Because of what I learned in your class, your enthusiasm during class and your thoughts about my work, I have decided that I can see myself pursuing a career in Architecture. I would really appreciate it if you would write me a letter of recommendation because of how your class influenced my decision to apply for the Architecture program at ###. I have attached a few picture of my architecture project from high school to remind you who I am and the work that I completed during your class.

Thanks,

###

Made my day! :-)

Below are pics of her digital (SketchUp) and hand-crafted (Cutting techniques, glue-gun, x-acto knife) butter-board model. The craftmanship was wonderful and wished more students worked as diligently and intentionally as she had. I currently use her work as an exemplar.
