JavaFX

It is clear to me that AWT & Java Swing need to make way to the more robust JavaFX for GUI, multimedia needs in Java. It will be more flexible and stable. This will be a feature I will introduce to future students in an introductory course where there is more time. 

JavaFX will allow development of desktop, mobile & web applications. 

Here is a great set of video tutorials on the basics of JavaFX by NewBoston. 

My preferred Java compiler, Dr. Java, does not compile and run JavaFX programs, so will be migrating to either BlueJ or IntelliJ in the future. Likely BlueJ.
